Foundations of Conversational Artificial Intelligence

Before AI became the buzzword that it is today, one of the most common interaction consumers had with AI was when they ran into those “annoying” chatbots. My task was to uncover and educate business partners and content designers alike about the foundational elements of a good vs. bad experience, what an ideal experience looks like, and how we can move the ecommerce chat bot closer to customer expectations.

Purpose and Personalization

Through a modified version of the Triptech method, I evaluated the desirability and perceived usefulness of an early personalization concept for an ecommerce website. Additionally, user interviews and a survey uncovered insights into when certain product information was necessary to display on the homepage.

In 2020, the unimaginable happened: the Covid-19 Pandemic forced us all into a new normal, and with it, we needed to adapt our way of working so that we could ensure accurate and impactful customer research from the safety of our own homes. In the first week of this ‘new normal’ I was tasked by the UX Research Director at Best Buy with compiling a high-level guide of potential research methods, when to use them, and various factors to consider.
